For Immediate Release

April 2, 2020 – New York & San Francisco

Global Architecture and Design Firm, Hart Howerton is pleased to welcome Sarah Zamler to its Travel Fellowship Program for 2020.
“We continue to be inspired by the innovative work produced by our Fellows each year and the impact that this research and travel opportunity has on their careers,” stated Dave Howerton, Hart Howerton’s Chairman. “This year we are committed to our Fellow’s travel experience, understanding that the timeline may be adjusted. We look forward to continuing our Travel Fellowship and supporting our Fellows as they work to shape the next generation of ‘designing complete environments’.”

Sarah Zamler, a Master of Architecture candidate at Columbia University’s Graduate School of Architecture, Planning and Preservation, will study the history and role of “The Company Town” and its role in today’s corporate and community relationship. Her research will aim to further understand the historical successes and failures of this urban typology that is making a resurgence in contemporary high tech settings.

Since its inception in 2006, Hart Howerton’s Fellowship program has offered students professional office experience, collaborative interdisciplinary design, and worldwide travel and research. Now in its fourteenth year, the fellowship continues to offer students an unparalleled learning experience, working as part of Hart Howerton’s project team in either their New York or San Francisco office and pursuing a self-defined travel topic. Fellows return to the offices to complete their professional internship and prepare a final “report,” which is presented to the firm. The program is open to undergraduate and graduate students in planning, architecture, landscape architecture or urban design around the world.
