We are pleased to welcome Brandon Zirzow and Ewa Podgorska to our Travel Fellowship Program for 2018.
Brandon Zirzow, a Bachelor of Architecture student at Syracuse University, will focus his studies on entertainment architecture and planning and its role in revitalizing urban environments. Brandon’s research will examine how new typologies of amusement and theme parks foster interaction between the everyday life of the city and the whimsical activities held within the site, revitalizing the character, atmosphere, and commercial value of the site while enhancing the living conditions of local residents.
Ewa Podgorska, a Master of Interior Architecture student at Rhode Island School of Design, will analyze biophilic design’s role in creating sustainable, nature-centric spaces based on the human need for health and wellness. In her research she will use tangible data to support biophilic design’s incorporation into the built environment showing a measurable impact and positive return on investments in the creation of healthy and productive places.
