A sun-washed tropical escape that’s quietly social, design-forward, and easygoing
An excerpt from Condé Nast Traveler:
Why book?
Because after a $100 million renovation, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami feels back in sync with island life and the instincts of modern travelers: a sun-washed tropical escape that’s quietly social, design-forward, and easygoing–with the pulse of Miami just a bridge away.
The backstory
When it opened in 2001, The Ritz-Carlton Key Biscayne, Miami quickly established itself as one of the brand’s most coveted resorts during Ritz-Carlton’s peak era. Over the years, it received light updates, but nearly a quarter century later, the property was ready for something more substantial. Enter a $100 million transformation completed throughout 2025, led by global luxury developer Gencom in collaboration with design studios Hart Howerton, DesignAgency, and Chapi Chapo Design.
The result is both a reinvention and a recalibration. The hotel has been brought firmly into the present as a seaside retreat that appeals equally to modern families and couples, while maintaining the warmth that made it a favorite among longtime guests. It feels like a confident next chapter for the island escape.
