Imersion in nature is the name of the game at Islas Secas, the Panama hotel founded by conservationist Louis Bacon in 2019. Comprising 14 private islands, the all-inclusive resort is a forested wonderland where the Pacific Ocean extends in all directions. But it is also a paradigm of style, with Hart Howerton and Tom Scheerer–designed casitas that epitomize carefree tropical living.

A new addition follows the same eco-focused thread, reinvented thanks to designers Whitley Esteban and Ernesto Gloria of Studio Tre. (They, like Scheerer, collaborated with the multidisciplinary architecture firm Hart Howerton.) Set beneath a sinuous roof made of sustainably harvested eucalyptus, the four-bedroom Casa Cavada spans 8,300 square feet of indoor-outdoor bliss. “Everything about these islands informed the design,” says Gloria, a Scheerer alum who spent countless hours on-site hiking, bird-watching, and absorbing local rhythms. “Clay from the ground, a leaf from a tree, the warm greens and ochres found throughout the landscape—these were our inspirations.”
